THE SOURCE CHOSE HIM.
Detective Malik Vance is one of Chicago's most respected investigators: a decorated former special-forces soldier, a husband preparing for fatherhood, and a man whose discipline has closed cases others considered impossible.
One final investigation exposes a conspiracy reaching through the police department and into the city's most protected institutions. Malik is marked for elimination before he can bring the truth into the light. His death should have sealed the case. Instead, his soul is carried beyond the mortal realm.
The Source does not return Malik as a conventional hero. He reforges him as Obsidian: an instrument of judgment able to move between light and darkness, protect the innocent, and force the corrupt to face the consequences they escaped in life.
